A Spiritual Booster into the New Year

Hello! We are almost through the first week of January 2021. You survived 2020. Maybe with some bumps, scratches, gashes of flesh missing and scars...but you made it. Be proud and thankful no matter how many gut punches, hardships, disappointments and losses you faced. You have now stepped into the New Year and new day.
With so much hype about the COVID-19 Vaccine arriving to help protect us and trying to get our lives back to more togetherness with family and friends. I found my heart and thoughts were focused on the need for a Spiritual Booster to jumpstart the New Year.
Close your eyes, take a deep breath and say, "THANK YOU" (seriously out loud)! "THANK YOU" Who are you 'thanking', you may ask? Thank yourself, God, your spouse, your children, your parents, your family, your church family, your friends, or anyone else that helped you navigate the chaos, confusion, frustration and good times along the way in 2020. This is your first step to starting fresh, acknowledging you didn't go the walk alone and you will not be alone in 2021 either.
We all made mistakes (big & small) last year. We know that all of our actions have consequences and some of those consequences will follow us into the new year (good & bad). But thankfully, our God forgives. Thankfully, we have a fresh canvas to start with spiritually at this time. We want to help lead you to the One who gives the ultimate, most peaceful and promising fresh start to navigate this crazy and at times, hard life.
At the beginning of this New Year, let us take a moment to pause, reflect and recommit to what's truly important in our lives - our faith, our family, our fitness/health, our finances, our friends, and our general life goals.

I like to start my personal recommitment process by looking at a picture of a road trip. Our family is getting into our car and headed somewhere. That destination is who and what we are striving to be. Without a destination in mind, it can be hard to determine which route is best to take. In fact, without the destination the trip rarely happens. The destination may be far away (at least it may seem like it) but it holds so much value and purpose to all the miles that you are about to embark upon now and this coming year.
Our goal is to share our story with you, to share lessons we have learned and help point any who read toward the greatest GPS. A GPS where you will find the best routes to take, avoid, and navigate the unknown and sometimes long, dark, curvy, frustrating detours in life. Sometimes that GPS will even show you how those dark, curvy detours are some of the brightest points.
"Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand."
-Proverbs 19:21 ESV
You might be thinking, "this is nice, but how do I get started?" Glad you asked!
Your first and most important step, is to PRAY! See which area(s) of your life you are truly being led to recommit. If you would like to 'map out' your destination, feel free to download the 2021 Goals Sheet below. If you have issues with the download, email or send a personal message to us and we are happy to provide a copy.
I keep my goals in my Daily Prayerful Planner. Which, I highly recommend if you enjoy a day/month planner, plus room to make notes, etc., they offer a hardcopy or an electronic version! Here is the link to their site if you want to check it out:
1. Pray & Meditate for guidance and the desire in your heart to recommit
2. Write your goal(s) down on your Goal worksheet, Daily Planner (this works well for me) or place a reminder on your electronic device. Keep your goals visible so you are constantly reminded.
3. Set a time each day to focus on doing or working towards your goal. Once it is complete, hi-lite it (mark it complete) I love checking tasks off! It makes me feel good to accomplish something.
4. If you miss a day, don't QUIT & don't beat yourself up over it! Pick up where you left off the next day and make adjustments with your daily schedule. Example: maybe Monday morning at 5:00 a.m. is not the best time for you to read scripture, but Monday evening is. Yet Tuesday morning at 5:00 a.m. works better. Be flexible with yourself, all while keeping your destination in mind.
5. Seek out an Accountability Partner. This is someone that will walk alongside you to cheer you on, maybe check-in to see how you are doing and feeling, and not criticize when you stumble. (This is an area I personally need to work on. Finding trust in someone to help me and not judge me). Let's be real, sometimes our spouse or parents aren't the best for this, but sometimes they can be. Don't feel guilty if you need someone outside the home.
P.S. We are here for you all, so reach out if you need someone to help you stay accountable with your goals. Maybe you just need a simple text message to check-in, phone call for conversation or email!
Our prayer is that over the next few weeks you will take a moment to pause, reflect and recommit (set a couple goals) your heart to your ultimate destination.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” —2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Happy New Year!
When life is spinning, pick your focal point!
